Emergency Procedures

The Emergency Building Procedures includes the critical information you will need in the event of fire, a medical emergency, weather emergency or bomb threat. It includes procedures for building evacuation, what to do if you receive a bomb threat and other instructions that are essential for your well-being and that of your co-workers. We all must become familiar with the area in which we work, appropriate emergency exits and the information on this web site.

This information is coordinated by the Building Emergency Planning Committee which includes representatives from the State Fire Marshall's Office, the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management, Kentucky State Police, the Finance and Administration Cabinet and the local fire department.

The management in your agency is legally responsible for making sure that each employee receives a personal copy of this information and that everyone reads and understands what is included. The Emergency Building Procedures web page also includes directions on how to put a shortcut icon on each desktop computer with Internet access. This information should also be posted in a readily accessible location, such as break rooms and personnel offices. Individuals who may not have access to e-mail or the Internet MUST be provided with a written copy. Old information should be destroyed. Buildings listed on line include Berry Mansion and annex, Bush Building, Capital Center East 1024, Capital Center East 1025, Capital Plaza Tower, Capitol Building, Capitol Annex, Carriage House (Berry Hill), Central Lab, GOT Central Computer, Health Services, Human Resources (CHR), Kentucky History Center, Library and Archives, Old Capitol Building, Old Capitol Annex, Public Service Commission, State Office Building, State Office Building Annex, Fair Oaks Building 100 and 200 (leased), First City Complex (leased), 1024 and 1025 Capital Center East.

The procedures are regularly reviewed to insure that you are provided the most appropriate measures for your work place and the web site will be routinely updated. When drills are conducted to test your knowledge and familiarity with the information here it is imperative that you participate to be prepared should a real emergency occur. Some drills may involve building evacuation.

Should you have any questions regarding this information, please contact the Finance & Administration Cabinet at mailto:Finance.Cabinet@ky.gov.

With the information on the web site and the essential teamwork, we can make sure that every state employee is as prepared as possible for an emergency situation. Let's continue to have a safe and productive work place.

The buildings that will have emergency information available on computer desktops include state-owned and some leased property (facilities are listed on the web site). Agencies need to make sure ALL employees know the appropriate measures regardless of what building they work in.
