70% of the U.S. families live paycheck to paycheck. Over 60% of people surveyed said they always or sometimes worry about money. Money is a key contributing factor in 80% of divorces and a major contributor to stress. Over $10 billion is lost annually in the U.S. due to work absences that are stress related. Knowing the key concepts in managing your money can help eliminate this stress and help you “control your money, rather than your money controlling you.” This class covers the concepts and principles to get out of debt, manage limited finances, and how to spend your money wisely.
This presentation aims to inform state employees about what it takes to secure a healthy financial future and is especially helpful for new hires that may not know what benefits are available to them as employees of the state. However, there is something that can benefit everyone discussing topics such as budgeting, debt, and retirement. Since this presentation covers a wide range of topics, the goal is to provide a central location to discuss the terminology in many different areas so a state employee will not feel overwhelmed speaking to the experts in each field if they determine more information is needed. (Note: This PowerPoint presentation contains the exact same information discussed in the live State Employee Money Management workshop.)
