Safety Training
The State Safety Program currently offers two safety training programs for state employees.

Fundamentals of Safety & Health |

This one-day course is required for all managers and supervisors below director level.
The Fundamentals of Safety & Health training is designed to provide the basic information managers and supervisors need to help reduce employee injuries and associated costs.
Classes are held in Frankfort and in various locations throughout the state.
Topics include:
- Cost & Economics of Accidents and Injuries
- Key Elements of an Effective Safety Program
- Facility Safety Inspections/Hazard Identification
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Office/Employee Ergonomics
- Incident/Accident Investigation
- Rules & Accountabilities
- Safety Committees
Who should attend: All managers and supervisors Program length: One day, 8:30-4:30

Managing a Safety & Health Program |

This 2-day course is targeted at individuals who are responsible for implementing safety programs within their agency or facility. Participants must first complete the Fundamentals of Safety & Health class.
The Managing a Safety & Health Program is designed to enable participants to build, maintain and manage an effective safety & health program.
Classes are held quarterly in Frankfort.

- Managing for and Measuring Results
- Management's Roles, Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Incident Investigations
- Performance Standards
- Safety Training Techniques
- Developing a Safety Culture
- Industrial Hygiene
- Managing Safety Committees
- Auditing Your Safety Program
- Job Safety Analysis & Job Instruction Training
- Motivation & Incentive Programs
Who should attend: Persons responsible for coordinating agency safety programs Prerequisite: Completion of Fundamentals of Safety & Health Program length: Two days, 8:30-4:30 each day
