Flextime & Compressed Work Week

Q: What is the difference between flextime and compressed work week?
A: A compressed work week is a type of flextime, however, a compressed work week is defined as working extra hours in a day in order to take a day off later in that pay period. Flextime is generally defined as adjusting starting and quitting times to fit individual needs while still working a 5-day week.

Q: How do I get approval to work a flexible work schedule?
A: Talk with your manager to see what your agency's policies on flexible work schedules are.

Q: Don't I have a right to work a flexible schedule?
A: No. Providing a flexible work schedule is at the discretion of your agency. Not every job or situation fits a flexible schedule.

Q: Can I still earn comp time while working a compressed work week?
